FRS Founders
In order to provide quality service to those who serve Boone County, First Responder Support rely on community support. We invite individuals and businesses to stand with us as part of our Founding Partners in order to support our mission.
First Responder Support Founders provide life-changing resources to our heroes. We greatly appreciate these FRS Founders who gave $10,000 or more for the exclusive designation of First Responder Support Founder. In addition to playing a critical role in supporting our mission these individuals are being recognized as ongoing partners of First Responder Support.
Randy & Cindy Minchew
Randy Minchew has dedicated his life to the service of others; and he is committed to his family and to the community. Randy has spent more than 40 years in business-starting, managing, and growing businesses. He currently works as the Vice President of Business Development for Deline Holdings.
Randy overcame years of physical abuse and addiction as a youth, which contributes to his passion for serving others-especially those struggling with substance abuse. Randy and his wife Cindy made Columbia their home after experiencing its unique greatness. Together they raised seven children (four of their own and three from a family member) and now, after 42 years of marriage, they are enjoying their seven grandchildren. During previous campaigns for public office, Randy's clear and unwavering support for first responders was evident.
As a result, many police officers and firefighters supported him and his candidacy. Randy has served with other nonprofit organizations, including Phoenix Programs, Grade A Plus, and Love Columbia, Salvation Army; and Randy was instrumental in helping to launch First Responder Support. Randy is passionate about helping first responders and making sure that first responders know that the Columbia and Boone community supports them too.
Jared & Christina Torbet
Jared & Christina Torbet own and operate Anxiety & Depression Clinic of Columbia, a local counseling and psychiatry clinic geared toward treating anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and relationship issues.
Jared and Christina are native to Boone County. They both grew up in “The Boonies.” Jared between Hallsville and Centralia, Christina just outside south Columbia. Jared received a Masters of Education in Counseling from Stephens College. Christina received a Masters of Arts in Human Development and Family Studies from MU. They have served a combined 25 years for not-for-profit organizations, helping individuals and families with a variety of needs, and are proud founding supporters of First Responder Support. Jared and Christina are passionate about giving back to local heroes that our community so desperately depends on by using their combined skills and experience to help our local heroes.
Jared and Christina aspire to build and operate a customized facility with top-notch therapists and psychiatrists that focuses solely on treating first responders and their families by incorporating the most modern, evidence-based treatment modalities and equipment for treating Complex PTSD to address traumas that our first responders, and their families, endure as a result of their heroic work. They believe our local heroes deserve our support as a continual tribute to the support they are willing to give each and every member of our community when it matters the most.
Betz Jewelers is a fourth-generation fine jewelry store in downtown Columbia. With expertise in custom design and manufacturing, appraisal/gemological services and jewelry repair, Betz Jewelers is proud to help customers with all of their jewelry needs, during some of life's most beautiful moments.
Born and raised in the Columbia area, Glenn Betz began his apprenticeship as a jewelry craftsman in 1941. Glenn settled in St. Louis as a designer and maker of fine jewelry, and became the sole proprietor of Glenn Betz & Associates in 1969. His son, L.C., grew up working in the business, then re-established the family's presence by founding L.C. Betz Jewelers in downtown Columbia in 1983. Both Betz Jewelers stores are family-owned and operated to this day.
L.C. also served as volunteer firefighter and EMT for Boone County from 1984-1991, so his advocacy for first responders comes naturally. Along with his wife Kathi, who previously worked as a registered nurse before joining the Betz Jewelers team, L.C. proudly supports many community organizations, including Central Missouri Honor Flight, True North, Mothers of Preschoolers, Columbia Public Schools, University of Missouri and Columbia College. L.C. & Kathi were inducted into the Columbia College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2015.
Today, L.C. & Kathi's daughter, Rachel Flynn, and son-in-law, Robert Flynn, run the day-to-day operations of the business. Robert serves as general manager and is the only Graduate Gemologist working in a retail setting in the Columbia area. Rachel works as Marketing Director, where she's increased the company's digital presence significantly, as well as creates her own line of jewelry, Flynn & Stone. Rachel & Robert continue to grow Betz Jewelers, tripling annual sales since starting with the business. Betz Jewelers was named "Best Place to Buy Jewelry in Columbia" the past two consecutive years in a row. Rachel & Robert are proud to build on the family tradition for excellent customer service and community involvement.
Rusty Drewing Toyota
Lifelong residents of Boone County, Rusty and Shannon Drewing have owned and operated businesses in the area and are lifelong residents of Mid-Missouri.
Rusty Drewing Automotive Group consists of BMW of Columbia, Mercedes-Benz of Columbia, Rusty Drewing Toyota, and Rusty Drewing Chevrolet Buick GMC Cadillac. During her career as an agent with Hive Real Estate Group, Shannon is well known for her savvy and creative negotiations as well as excellent customer service. As a result of Shannon's hard work, she was named Realtor of the Year in 2022. A distinguished award voted on by her peers.
A commitment to the community in which their two boys will grow up is at the heart of Rusty’s and Shannon's life.
Larry & Betty Schuster
Larry and Betty Schuster have been Columbia residents since their college days at Mizzou during the 1970s. Both are small business owners and employers who have been active in the community over the years since that time. They raised a family, two sons of whom they are very proud, in Columbia.
Seth and his family (Jessie, Adam and Little Schuster, born March 2024) live in Tulsa, Okla., while Turner and his wife, Kim, live here in Boone County. They are grateful for the many people in the area that serve as first responders, including several family members.
The decision to support First Responder Support was an easy one.
Matt & Rhonda Moore
Matt, from Little Rock, Ark., and Rhonda from Rayville, La., moved to Columbia in 2000 and now call it home. Matt, recently retired as the President and CEO of the Shelter Insurance Companies where he spent 38 years with that company.
Matt currently serves as the Vice Chairman of their Board of Directors. Matt also serves on the Advisory Board of First State Community Bank, along with the Executive Board of the James and Annelle Whitt Entrepreneurial Development Foundation. Matt, while living in Maumelle, Ark., served on the Volunteer Fire Department of that city.
Rhonda, is a retired Occupational Therapist. She was a Certified Hand Therapist and owned her own clinic before moving to Columbia. Rhonda recently served on the Board of Love Columbia. They are members of The Crossing Church in Columbia. Matt and Rhonda have two children, Mallory, 36, of North Little Rock and Matt, Jr., 38, of Warrenton, Mo. They have 5 grandchildren.
